Meet the Crew: Rob Kapfer

Name: Rob Kapfer (Waterboy)

Residence: Utica NY

Occupation: Engineer

Position on the Crew: Waterboy

Years on Jamie’s Badwater Crew: 3

Relationship to Jamie: brother-in-law

Favorite race you’ve completed this year: only have done 2. Neither were that enjoyable. If I had to choose I would pick “the summer sizzle” 5 mile run. This year the course was at a state university where I do a lot* of running, kind of felt like home.

*caveat this for all you ultra freaks, once or twice a week.

Next race: nothing on the calendar… I know Jamie and Dave want to race Connie and I in a 24 hr, but I need more than the 80 miles they are spotting us.

Favorite desert cuisine: can’t beat the famous D’s Nuts tenders and wash them down with a nuuntini.

Favorite part of the course: The entire course is amazing, over the 135 miles you get to see some very cool landscapes and ecological wonders. Running past the sand dunes near stovepipe is always impressive.

Favorite memory from last year: Jamie kicking butt for the second straight year.

Funniest moment from last year
: Witnessing Sean after 1 beer, the skirt thing was great too but that was without beer.

Hopes for this year: Have fun, no injuries, and make it to the top of Whitney

When are you going to run Badwater
? Is this a serious question. Maybe for the rest of the crew but not me.

If you could be anywhere right now, where would you be? Away from everyday life with Watergirl.

Anything else we need to know about you? Does my crush on Tony Horton count?

Love the picture! This is just the sort of photo that my sister would post of me if she were introducing me on her blog. Also, it has made me hungry.

I hope you're ready for some serious nuuntini action! On a somewhat related note, I've been practicing my beer drinking skills. One more thing: did Jamie mention the Vegas Marg Mile?

Jen - we love to eat! How else are we going to fuel our bodies to help get Jamie across the desert and up the mountain?

I also noticed the eating. Then again, most runners and definitely all ultra runners will have many eating photos. Love the crew posts!
